In January 2002
two new photo exhibitions, prepared by the "Petersburg Judaica" Center, will be opened at the Jewish Community Center of Palm Beech (USA). The first exhibition is devoted to synagogue architecture of the Ukraine (photos by Alla Sokolova) and the second one - to Jewish communities of Middle Asia and the Caucasus (photos by Michael Kheifets).




From the 23d of September till the 10th of October 2001
the "Petersburg Judaica" Center organized a competition of architectural projects for students of art colleges and of the Architectural department of St. Petersburg Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The theme of the competition was the following: "Sukkah - a temporal dwelling". 43 projects were given to the competition. 8 of them got rewards.




During the period from the 16th till the 31st of July 2001
the "Petersburg Judaica" Center had organized a study trip for University students, schoolchildren and their parents, who worked as volunteers at the Center. A group of 15 participants had visited several towns of Romania and the Ukraine. They studied preserved monuments of Jewish history and culture there.
